By Air
The nearest airport from Kedarnath is the Jolly Grant Airport near Dehradun, about 239 kms from Kedarnath.
Direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai , Patna, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Jammu are available daily to Jolly Grant while various indirect connecting flights are available from various other airports of India.
In fact, this airport is located quite close to Rishikesh (approx. 16 kms) and it takes roughly 20-30 minutes to reach Rishikesh from the airport. From Rishikesh one can book a taxi or take a bus to reach Sonprayag.
By Helicopter
Kedarnath can be reached very easily via Helicopter services, which operate from various places in Uttarakhand. Some of the prominent places from where you can get a Helicopter to Kedarnath are Dehradun, Guptkashi, Phata, Sitapur and Sonprayag. The Government decides the rates for Heli copter Services each year.
By Train
The nearest railway stations to Kedarnath are at Rishikesh (215 kms), Haridwar (241 kms), Dehradun (257 kms) and Kotdwar (246 kms). Rishikesh is not connected by fast trains and Kotdwar has a limited number of trains. However, Haridwar railway station (25 km from Rishikesh) is better connected with New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Amritsar and Howrah.
By Bus
The last bus station for Kedarnath is Sonprayag. Before the 2013 disaster, buses used to go upto Gaurikund, which is 5 kms further ahead from Sonprayag and is the starting point of the trek route to Kedarnath, but after the 2013 disaster, buses go till Sonprayag only and from here shared Jeeps/Taxis are available till Gaurikund.
Visitors can board regular buses from Haridwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun and Kotdwar to Kedarnath. Private taxis can also be hired from these places. The National Highway from Delhi to Mana (538 km) remains open throughout the year. Kedarnath is accessible by foot from Gaurikund, which is connected by state buses to Rishikesh, Dehradun, Kotdwar and Haridwar. The bus fares vary depending on the season.
Kedarnath is well connected through road via major cities such as Chandigarh (387 km), Delhi (458 km), Nagpur (1421 km), Bengaluru, (2484 km) or Rishikesh (189 km). One can opt for train journey till Haridwar, Kotdwar or Dehradun or air route too till Dehradun.
