Deoria Tal (also spelled as Devaria or Deoriya) is a lake located about 3 km on an uphill trek from the villages of Mastura and Sari, on the Ukhimath-Chopta road in Uttarakhand. Deoria Tal Lake is perched at an elevation of 2,438 meters above sea level. During early morning on a clear day, Devariya Tal blesses the tourists with reflections of Chaukhamba peaks in its crystal-clear water.
The lake is situated amidst a lush green inclined field surrounded by dense trees. Deoria Tal serves as a popular trekking destination in the region because of its ease of access and soothing scenic beauty. Deoria Tal lies in the Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary. At times, visitors can spot wild animals drinking water from the lake early in the morning. Therefore, an overnight stay at Deoria Tal is a must.
History and Mythology
According to folklores,Devas (Gods) bathed in this lake hence the name. The lake is also believed to be the "IndraSarovar" referred to in the Puranas. It is also believed that it was the place where the mighty Pandavas were asked queries by a Yaksha
