GauriKund

GauriKund is an important Hindu pilgrimage site on the way to Kedarnath Dham. It is situated at an altitude of 6,500 feet in the Garhwal Himalayas and is regarded as the gateway to Kedarnath as the trek to Kedarnath commences from this place.

GauriKund is connected to Goddess Parvati, also known as Gauri. In Hindu folklore, the Goddess engaged in penance and prayed to get Lord Shiva as her husband. It is believed that GauriKund is the spot where Gauri performed these practices and it was here that Shiva finally admitted his love for her. According to legend, the couple married at Triyugi Narayan, which is located nearby.
